Shipping
Instead of offering free shipping we offer volume discounts when purchasing three or more boxes. You do not have to ask for special treatment. Discounts are automatically included when checking out. (Try it!)

Volume discounts may be more than enough to cover the cost of shipping. (You can find out by experimenting with the shopping cart. Just put example items in a cart and compare shipping costs to discounts. An experimental shopping cart can be abandoned at any time.)

Why are we offering such generous discounts? Because small orders (one or two books) are very inefficient in terms of paperwork and handling. Orders under $50 are a break- even proposition. So, to encourage you to think big we split the savings with you.

Rush Orders
We are unable to ship overnight, next day or even within three days.

Our studio is in a rural location on an island. This adds at least two days to shipping times. Three day air therefore becomes five to six day air depending on whether you are in the western (five day) or eastern (six day) part of the continent.

Shipping Times
Shipping time depends on where you are and the shipping method that you choose during the check out process.

When you place a BookBox into a shopping cart our programs will provide a list of shipping options along with their approximate costs. (This estimate is based on the IP address of the computer you are using.)

By clicking on the Actual Shipping link, (near the bottom of shopping cart page), you can enter a specific shipping address that will then be used to calculate precise shipping charges for wherever you intend to have the BookBoxes shipped. The destination can be changed any number of times to determine shipping charges for different locations (friends and family).

There is no obligation associated with having a look at shipping costs. Just add an item to a shopping cart and have a look. When you are finished your selections are automatically abandoned when you navigate to another web site or do not complete the check out process within two hours.

Costs
Shipping costs depend on the method and option you choose during check out. When you select BookBox by clicking on the ADD TO CART button it is put into an electronic shopping cart. In addition to reporting how many products you have chosen, and their costs, you will be given a list of shipping options, along with their estimated costs.

During the check out process (after you have finished shopping) you will be asked to choose one of the shipping methods. This choice will then be reflected in the final cost of your order.

Shipping rates are weight-based. The estimated weight of each BookBox is provided included in our product descriptions. To calculate total shipping weight we combine the weight of all products shipped within a single package and round up to the next full pound.

Brokerage Fees for Shipments to the United States
This is a hidden cost for UPS GROUND TRANSPORT ONLY that you need to be aware of .

No brokerage fees are charged when the total invoice value is under $200 (including shipping).

Canada Post does not charge brokerage (to you) for any value of shipment.

UPS will charge brokerage fees to YOU, at time of delivery for any GROUND shipment with an invoice value in excess of $200. Their fees start at $30 and go up rapidly from there.

All air shipments by UPS include brokerage fees, (Three Day Select, Worldwide Expedited).

Duties on Shipments to the United States
All BookBoxes are duty free.

Taxes on Shipments to the United States
The postal services does not normally collect sales tax (but may have started).

UPS does (we think) collect sales tax at time of delivery (in some states).
